Ballad of the SS BC NDP

What does Captain Edward John Smith, Captain Joseph Hazelwood and BC NDP Leader Carole James have in common? Why, they all were the captains of doomed ships.
"Arahhh, this is not a fair comparison," noted nautical expert, Captain Highliner declared. "I mean an iceberg and a reef off the coast of Alaska were not nearly as obvious as the events leading up to the Ipsos-Reid poll."
The doomed Titantic's hull only wished it could take as many hits the BC NDP have taken before sinking. Ever since the latest Ipsos-Reid poll came out last month showing the NDP's rating with the public sinking to 2001 levels, while the BC Liberals are approaching historic highs, the NDP have been stuck as to what to do. In fact, the NDP have been down right silent. Well, almost.
"Arahhh, that be true. You see Captain Carole James is now making important changes on the SS BC NDP.", Highliner said.
Really? Like changes in policy? Perhaps distancing themselves from their union puppet masters?
"Arahhh, no...nothing so time or effort consuming like that", Highliner scoffed. "Rather she's giving the preverbal deck chairs a healthy shuffle."
That's right. Without the Government shuffling their Cabinet Ministers, James has shuffled her "shadow cabinet" - without giving an explation. However, she did take the time to have this quote attributed to her. BTW - if you think the writing on this intrepid Poly is creative, check this out:
Hahahahahahaha! "Under my leadership"? A "pro-growth agenda"? Oooh, boy. Has James finally lost it?
"Arahhh, quite possibly mate, quite possibly.", Highliner began. "When you are chasing the thing most elusive to ya, that thing can make you crazy in a Moby Dick kinda way."
So what is it that James is chasing?
Ok, I get it. But could the NDP not move in a positive direction by speaking on the big issues in our province? For example, the BCTF and Government agreed to a contract this past Friday, thus preventing a strike which would have kept our province's approximately five billion students (figure may be slightly off) out of the classroom, however nothing from the NDP - including their website.
"Arahhh, that's because Jinny Sims nor Vaughn Palmer ain't be telling them yet what to say," Highliner exclaimed. "'Cause the wrong word from the lips of James and that scurvy dog of a first mate, Mike Farnworth will be fixing for a mutiny!"
On the surface, it does not appear that merely moving her drowning MLAs from one position to another will be enough to save the NDP. In fact the biggest move could / should have been James stepping down as leader! So what is next?
"Arahhh, you have to know that James has a plan."
What would that be?
"She be planning on holding a team building exercise on board something called the Hindenburg."
We can only hope.

I think the Poly should STOP CRITIZISING CAROL JAMES , as long as she is leader of the NDP the BC Liberals will be guaranteed victory in 2009.

ahh what a beautiful time it is.

Wait until the Union hand in the NDP sock puppet gets tired of not being able to grift the public purse and decides to remove the self described "leader"

Dix or Farnsworth, makes no matter. The NDP will eat their own young in the selection process and the Liberals will transition to Taylor and the good times will continue to roll on.

"the Liberals will transition to Taylor and the good times will continue to roll on."

Get real. Taylor doesn't have the BC Liberals locked up. Wait for Kevin Falcon to run over her like a asphalt rolling machine flattening her like a cartoon character that has to be peeled off the drum.

Stupidest thing for the BC Liberals to do is to select Taylor simply because she is being "groomed" or "the word" is that The Premier would "like it very much" if she was leader.

In fact would be the best thing for the BC Liberals to go in a new direction.

Forget Kevin Falcon. An even bigger
contender will come out to win the BC Liberal leadership.

Christy Clark.

When the announcement happens...

...be there.

Wouldn't it be something if the BC Liberals were defeated in 2009, and the NDP won a bit of a majority?

Think of it.

Hey Christie Clarke couldn't even make the NPA candidate for Mayor in Vancouver. What we need to replace Gordon is a true heartland guy. Kevin Kreuger. He can pray for you everyday.

Christy Clark lives in Vancouver Fairview now and will run for the BC Liberal Nomination there.

Dix will go for it soon. But he will be labelled the back stabber and fail to get support (or sign members)

Farnworth will gain most of the NDP Party support but lose.

Corrigan will sign up the Dosanjh Indo Canadians and win close to the 50% + 1.

Kevin Krueger will win re-election in 2009 and be made Party whip.

Be careful what you wish for. The last thing the BC Liberals need is the ouster of Carole James.

As the most moderate (even conservative on some issues) member of the NDP caucus and probably one of the strongest performers, Farnworth would pose the biggest threat to the Liberals, but for those same reasons (being moderate) he will fail to win his party's leadership.

Long live the reign of Carole.

Obviously a stab at the owner of Happy Planet who ran for the NDP there and won.

She went from ordinary MLA to Minister to Deputy Premier to Minister and now back to MLA?

That would be a stretch. It would be a bit of a stretch to see her as a backbencher since she's already been there.

She'll want to build her own support base (consisting of federal Liberals) for a run at the BC Liberal leadership in 2011.

Or get smart and get on with getting a real job, leaving Marissen to be a stay at home Dad.

Gosh those Commie teachers settled a collecive agreement, with the government. I did see the Finance Minister trying to hug Jinny Simms on Telly.

Now who do we slag? Hey the NDP did a small shadow cabinet change. Gloom and doom in that party.

Now it's time to slag them for awhile. I do recall other opposition parties do such things now and again. Do blogs attempt to tear them apart? When Gordon was in opposition didn't he make any chnages to his group of MLA's. Gosh I can't recall headlines

"Now who do we slag?"

How about the way the BC Liberal Party runs itself?

We in the NDP have a party that is much better run at the membership level than the micromanaged BC Liberals.

We've heard that some of the people
running the BC Liberals are a joke when it comes to campaigning.

What do you care about what this site says? Are you that threatened that you have to monitor it to see what's being said? I'm quite sure that it will never come out supporting the NDP.

I agree with previous posts "long live Carol". She'll ensure our continued sucess for years.......

"Okay, how high do you want us to jump, sir?

Indeed.

Why wouldn't we care?

"Are you that threatened that you have to monitor it to see what's being said?"

From this joke of a website?

Get real.

We consider this website to be entertainment.

It's hardly serious political commentary.

Something to learn from.

How not to do a blog.

"I'm quite sure that it will never come out supporting the NDP."

No kidding. And no bicycle was ridden on a street downtown today too?

Never ceases to amaze how those NDP’ers can whine, bitch and complain. Must be tough to see the world through those dung colored socialist spectacles.

From what I understand, a blog usually starts a discussion and assorted folks provide various views on the subject. The few other blogs I run into seem to work that way. This thing is a bitch session and by God if you arn't with Gordo and gang , well you don't seem to want to hear any other opinion. The world doesn't revolve around Martyne Browns little boy, even if you think it does. Fair debate seems to happen somewhere else. so what are you guys afraid of anyway. The old "Socialists are at the gate" as WAC used to trumpet. But he also said" second sober thought" I leave it at that

Must be tough not to think independently and have to think that Gordon Campbell's word is the right word on everything and have Gordon Campbell and the Premier's
office do all of the thinking for you.

As for seeing the world through
dung coloured spectacles, seems to
us that the BC Liberals did just that when dealing with the problems with the Children's Ministry.

this a great blog, with a sane pointof view.

If it upsets you, go hangout at the Tyee Forum/blog or read the Georgia Staright.

Whenever I need a good laugh I pick up a Straight . . gawd what a bunch of warped, sorry assed losers that write there . . but it is their right to put their loony toons ideas out for public consumption.

The Tyee is just as good at showing off the total stupidity of the Left . . . old ideas that don't work proposed by people that can't handle reality.

If ya don't like this blog, go elsewhere. Nobody is forcing you to hang here with us smart folks

I'd correct that to say:

"Nobody is forcing you to hang here with us smart-ass folks"

Given the quality of the supposedly
"good journalism" on this blog,
a few aren't exactly the brightest
light in the chandelier when it comes to political writing.

Lots of smart-ass remarks and not much more.

Why the hanging on of Dix's fake memos?

No one remember when Gordo got a nice picture taken of himself in Maui for example?

No mention of Basi and Virk, the thinkin' hacks mentors?

Give it all a rest and write good factual political commentary if you can.

- This blog has broken news story's the media did not get and then they reported Poly's findings.

Did this blog mention that the ferry system, supposedly sold to Hahn to be totally idependent from government, except for well over 100 millions a year, is now asking for more money? Seems the insurance won't cover all the costs of buying a replacement boat from somewhere offshore.Or that the brains behind the Olympics underestmated another cost, security by about 100 percent, not counting a skating rink that needs lots more, or how olympic hockey will have to be played on a undersized rink. BC is starting to look rather stupid in the sports world. Another great deal down the toilet. You mean you didn't? Wonder why, everyone else noticed.
We are begining to believe some brain in the Liberal think tank is running it.

"Seems the insurance won't cover all the costs of buying a replacement boat from somewhere offshore"

It's not supposed to.

Insurance replaces the cost based on the current market value of the ferry only, not for replacement which would be more than the current market value of the ferry prior to her sinking.

In other words if your vehicle is totalled and you're entitled to compensation from ICBC, ICBC will pay out the sum equal to the current market book value of the vehicle, not the total cost of a new equivalent which would be higher.

"We are begining to believe some brain in the Liberal think tank is running it. "

No kidding. A bicycle went by
Siwash walk this afternoon too, right?

You're right about the Liberal. Whether that Liberal has any smarts is anyone's guess. The Party has been lacking in real working functioning brains in their locked up headquarters bunker.
